n8n Automation Demand: Week 14 Signal Report (April 1, 2026)

9041 n8n workflow templates tracked. This week: 124 new templates added, AI node adoption at 65.3%, and the top moving use cases by view velocity. Free structural data from the TeloSignal index.

This Week at a Glance

The TeloSignal index runs a full crawl of n8n's public template library every week. Here is what the data shows for week 14 of 2026.

9041 templates tracked. 124 added this week. 65.3% of new templates include at least one AI or LLM node — up from last week. The median workflow remains 17 nodes. The average is 20.2 nodes — the gap between these two numbers tells you the ecosystem is relatively evenly distributed across complexity levels.

Use Case Movement

The table below shows every tracked use case category, its current template count, and the direction of view velocity over the past 7 days. Volume shows what exists. Direction shows where attention is moving.

webhook_api remains the largest single category at 3932 templates. Volume concentration is high — the top two categories represent 76% of the index. The remaining 12 categories share the other 24%. Volume concentration at this level is typical of a maturing ecosystem — standardised problems accumulate solutions faster than niche ones.

AI Node Adoption

AI-enabled templates - those using at least one LLM, LangChain, or image generation node - represent 65.3% of new templates added this week. The overall library AI share continues to grow as builders adopt OpenAI, Anthropic, and Ollama nodes. Templates with AI nodes consistently attract higher view velocity than non-AI equivalents in the same use case category.

npm Signal

Alongside template view data, the index tracks npm download trends for the node packages that power the most common n8n integrations. npm trend is a leading indicator — package adoption often precedes template creation by 2–4 weeks.

This week's npm signal: n8n-nodes-evolution-api saw -7.2% decline in weekly downloads. Package download movement often precedes new template creation by 2-4 weeks. A -7.2% decline in n8n-nodes-evolution-api downloads is a leading signal worth tracking.

What This Data Does and Does Not Tell You

Structural data — counts, distributions, averages — shows you the shape of the ecosystem. It answers: what exists, how much of it, and in what direction is attention moving.

It does not tell you which specific use case to build next, how to prioritise your pipeline, or which templates represent an underserved opportunity. That layer — Demand Scores, Strategic Ratings, and Build vs Skip verdicts — is available in the paid intelligence tier.

Free members see the direction. Paid members see the number and what to do with it.

The Principle Behind the Pattern

Recent attention matters more than old popularity. A spike this week signals opportunity. A high total view count from two years ago signals legacy.

Next week's signal report will track how these numbers move. The value of a single week's data is limited. The value of a time series is not.
